What is Contents Insurance?

Contents Insurance will protect your belongings within your home and permanent outbuildings (on the same plot of land)against set perils. Cover does vary between Insurers however most policies will protect your property against the following perils:

  • Fire
  • Lightening
  • Explosion
  • Earthquake
  • Riot
  • Vandalism/Malicious Acts
  • Storm or Flood
  • Subsidence/landslip/Heave
  • Theft or Attempted Theft
  • Escape of Water
  • Collision
Accidental Damage Cover may also be added to a policy for an additional premium charge.
What Should I Insure My Contents For?

You need to ensure that your contents sum insured is sufficient to replace ALL the items within your home as new (I.e. Going to the shops and buying them brand new)

Many householders within the UK are underinsured when it comes to their contents insurance. If you do not have the correct level of cover Insurers may reserve the right to pay out all or part of a claim you may make.

All Insurers we provide quotations for will provide cover on a new for old basis.


Will My Policy Cover Items Away From My Home?

Your household contents insurance policy can be extended to cover items you wear and carry away from the home (Jewellery, watches etc). Referred to as personal possessions.
